THE ASHEVILLE AREA

The first thought that comes to mind when you think of Asheville, NC may be the beautiful mountains covered with serene and stoic trees and lush green grass. Or it may be the abundance of arts and the deep appreciation for wellness and peaceful relaxation. No matter what your first impression of Asheville, North Carolina is, it’s bound to be a good one. 

The Asheville area hosts a variety of attractions to suit many ages and interests.  There is the George Vanderbilt’s mansion and the Biltmore Estate; which offers wonderful wine tours and summer concerts. There are railroads, nature preserves, and even a Blue Ridge Corn Maze. Museum attractions are plentiful, with the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, the home place of one of America’s beloved writers, as well as an art museum and many other history and cultural centers.     

Asheville has four navigable rivers wonderful for fishing, white water rafting, boating or just simply admiring. The area offers winter skiing, and all kinds of biking challenges: the curvy roads are great for motorbikes, there are miles of off-road trails for mountain bikes, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great ride no matter what mode of transportation.  There are amazing festivals throughout the year and the Blue Ridge, Great Smoky, and Black Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for spring color and fall leaf viewing while you browse the wares of local artists and craftsmen.

Asheville’s
downtown offers a variety of entertainment; from music in the square and casual dining to at least seven theatre companies as well as several independent stages and venues.  For the pampering types, you can come relax and enjoy the many spas in and around the area and for the golfer in you, the rolling hills and breath taking views are second to none.   The Western North Carolina area is beautiful and comforting and eagerly waiting your arrival.
